Wine tours in Valencia
Want to visit a winery?
Wine tours are becoming increasingly popular in Valencia. The main wine regions of Valencia are close to the city, at about one hour’s drive.
We organise visits to wineries in most of the Valencian wine regions. We often go to Utiel-Requena, which is close to the city, but we also go to Castellón and Alicante. The tours are usually day trips from Valencia, but an overnight stay at an old winery farmhouse is also possible.
There are several internationally renowned wineries in the Valencia region, like Hispano Suizas, Mustiguillo and Vera de Estenas that produce top wines and Cavas. You could visit these wineries as part of a day trip, or just in a few hours in the morning or so.
You could book a private tour, or, if available, join other people on a tour – just ask us for options.
Some wineries are wheelchair accessible, so we also organise day trips for people in wheelchair, using accessible transport.

After a few days strolling through the city of Valencia, you might feel like a “grape escape”, go out of the city to get some fresh country air and a drink or two…

Our most popular day trip
On our most popular tour, we first visit 10th century wine caves in the old town of Requena. The visit includes a wine tasting, of course. From there we drive towards Utiel, to visit a winery. We will walk through the vineyards, and in harvest season you could pick and eat the grapes on the spot… They will explain all about the wine making process, and then of course you get to taste some of their wines! After the wine tasting we go to the village of Utiel, to have lunch at a typical Spanish village restaurant, a 3-4 course lunch with more wine… but even lunch at the winery is nowadays possible! you’ll sit outside in the shade of a big tree, with a view over the vineyards… and with the best wines of the winery!
Another option is an American-style wine tour, visiting three or four wineries in a day. Not easy in the Valencian wine regions, where wineries are not exactly next to each other… but it can be done!
Or how about visiting a bio-dynamic olive oil producer, or an orange grove, or a goat cheese-maker; all these visits include a tasting of their products.
Experience the grape harvest
A wine tour could also involve doing a bit of grape harvesting, during the months of September-October. We pick grapes for half an hour or so, and take them to the winery to stomp them with our feet, really cool! The wine maker will show us around the winery, and then you’ll get to taste some of their wines. We end the day with a wonderful local lunch at the winery, with more wine, relaxing in the shade of the old farmhouse…
The grape harvest tour can be organized as a private tour, for small and large groups. But we also do one or two open group tours, for which anyone can sign up. Please let us know in advance if you would like to join us on the grape harvest tour, so we keep you informed of when exactly we are doing this tour. The price for the group tour is around €65 per person, all inclusive – a bargain!
But these are just examples – there are many more options, all depending on your preferences. Depending on the season or time of the year, you could join one of our regular tours, or have your wine tour tailor-made.
Wine tours can be done in various languages; we speak English, Dutch, German and Spanish.
